  • I have ordered one pressed grape wine kit and a cider kit. What equipment will be needed? There is some homebrew kit at mums that never got used (been stored in the shed) So I could probably get my hands on a lot of it.

I`m hoping the equipment needed will be a large brewing bucket, a siphon, and some demijohns and wine bottles, corks, plus the new yeast as someone suggested on here (and the sugar) :) Will be interesting to see how the wine etc turns out...

Since they are basically 5 gal kits you will need either a 5gal plastic food grade bucket with lid & airlock or 5 demijohns with airlocks. Also sterilising solution before you use them, and remember to rinse well after using it.

I didn't have a big enough bucket for the white wine kit, so have been looking around for one.
In Sainsburys this morning , they had Kilner 25 litre fermenting buckets for £3. Lid is airtight, but no hole for fermentation lock. I've just drilled a hole and fitted an airlock I have. Looks like discontinued stock, but others might find it locally.

Just wondered how everyone got on with their kits.
I got 2 white wine, and the grape juice was dark brown, but I still used it. The colour didn't improve, but it's perfectly acceptable for home drinking.
