i recieved a letter today,it says:

"you are one of our customers who brought payment protection insurance during 2005 or 2006. as a reminder, payment protection insurance covers your payments on your dfs account if you are unable to work for more than 30 days due to involuntry unemployment or disability.

our investigations have highlighted a risk that we may not have properly drawn your attentio to important information at the time of purchase to enable you to make a fuly informed decision abbout ppi.

to make an informed decision to purchase payment protection insurance you needed to be made aware of all important terms and conditions, included the exclusions and limitations that apply to ppi."

after reading this i thought to myself that i didnt even know i had ppi.....?
does anybody think i should try and claim back what i have paid?

How did you not know you had PPI? The charge would of appeared on your statement each month would it not?

I got the same letter a few weeks back because of my Burton store card. I phoned up straight away to cancel the PPI. Not worth claiming it back as it only amounts to a couple of pound from over the past 2 year.
  • i didnt get a statement each month it just took £54.88 each month. thinking back he asked us how much we could afford and we said about £50 a month so he said £54.88 each month would be the best option for 18 months. looking over the paperwork there is a box with a tick saying we want it but nothing was mentioned at the time and there is no break down of costs which annoys me a bit.
so i am thinking that with this recent letter in mind why dont i try and claim it back as it amounts to around £90 for the 15 months ive been paying it?
