Has anyone successfully refilled Dettol no touch soap bottles, if so how ?

A couple of years back I got a load of Dettol no touch soap dispensers using vouchers and they came with soap and the batteries. They worked out at £2 each (cheaper than the soap ). Now all the soap has been used I want to refill the bottles rather than pay £3 odd for a refill. I can't seem to get the top of the old soap bottle without damaging it. Has anyone else tried this and how did you do it please ?

  • I always refill mine I use a butter knife under the plastic rim and it just flicks off, leaving me able to fill with aldi's anti-bac handwash, I have not yet had to replace the original bottle and I have had it over 6mths now, hope that helps :)

Haha! I wish I'd seen this a few years ago when ours first ran out. I left it to DH to refill as he had been the one to bring it home (given to him by a customer). He poked a hole in the bottom (top when in use) re filled it and put a bit of sellotape over the hole. I've just continued to refill it in the same way. Never occurred to me to look any further!

that's how I refill mine, ive had it years too so refilled it countless times - there is a bit of a crack in the lid where I jam the screwdriver in but other than that its as good as new.

got a friend who got some of these for free - she fills them with shampoo and shower gel/bubble bath for the kids ... its dollops just the right amount!

I use a screwdriver too but the last cheapie wash (think it was a savers baby one) I put in was too liquidy and puddled over the sink :(

My mum's has been refilled about 4 times, recently replaced the battery but it's gone beserk - just keeps being activated, even though sensor is clean, at alls times of the day & night. Still, she's had a good use from it.

I got a Cillit Bang dispenser free from somewhere; it came with washing up liquid rather than hand soap. I've refilled it many times, but don't think it will withstand many more refills. I can't find refills online, so it must not have taken off. The advice of poking a hole in the top and refilling this way is just what I needed, so thank you busiscoming2 for this!

  • :j:j:j Managed to fill a couple of bottles without injury or spilling. Just needed a bit more brute force, I'd been worried about splitting the lid or bottle or the knife or screwdriver slipping and doing some damage. Sorted now though

Hi, I just saw your link, thanks a lot! I had a No Touch given to me and when it ran out I was so shocked at the price of the refill at Tesco that I just gave up and threw the bottle out. I kept the batteries and the unit though, no idea why! Then, just today, I had the idea to research it, and found this forum about it. I didn't know it was here even though I visit other forums on here. I will buy a refill and when it has finished I will make use of the screwdriver to prise off the lid and refill it with my favourite and cheaper soap. Cheers! :j
