Father Daughter dance - when to have it

Okay so I have a special song I would like to have as a Father Daughter dance but I don't know when to have it in relation to the rest of the reception. We have a live band who will kick off proceedings with the traditional first dance but I don't really want it to come straight after that. The band will take a small 15 min break halfway through so I was wondering about having it at the end of the final set with the band annoucing it would be their final number for the first half of things and asking me and my Dad to the dancefloor but I would be interested to hear from what other brides to be/already married peoples think!
Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!?

Following with interest...
I was thinking about having mine about 8.30? With evening guests arriving at 7.30ish I thought this would see everyone settled, hopefully food will nearly be ready so we can have Father/Daughter dance then Husband/Wife dance and then a bit of a boogy before the Hog Roast is served... Then people can sit and relax for a bit with food and then the evening can become raucous!:j Married to the Love of my Life 02.08.2014 - Now I'm Mrs E :j

This one is really up to you...but after the break would seem a good moment...
I guess it all depends on what sort of song you are having....is it an upbeat one that you both want a good ole boogie too...do you want everyone else up dancing too or is it something thats special to you...
I had the first dance with my new husband...and the last dance with my dad...to the drifters "save the last dance for me"...it turned out being very special and quite ironic.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

I think the 'done thing' - certainly in the US from what I can gather anyway - is to do it after the bride and groom's first dance. But as with all things wedding it's entirely up to you!
I'd never thought of having a father-daughter dance, though knowing my dad we'd end up swaying along to 'You'll Never Walk Alone' and singing at the tops of our voices..."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -

2nd August (seems so close now...) what about you?
I have asked a few ladies at work (I have the bonus of being the youngest on my team by about 30years...) and they all think the Daddy dance should be before Hubby dance.. But I suppose each to their own!:j Married to the Love of my Life 02.08.2014 - Now I'm Mrs E :j

We're not till next year but I get panicky if things aren't organised in advance so I'm already most of the way through my planning. I only need to order dress (already tried it on!) and go bridesmaid dress shopping with my girlies. I haven't sorted flowers out yet but do have an appt with a local, good and cheap florist for the new year. Everything else bar the final food choices and the seating plan are either booked with a deposit or paid for in full!Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!? :huh:0

The song I want is "handbags and gladrags" as it used to play regularly at the pub that we used to go to when I lived locally. It was when me and my Dad were at our closest and he loves the song too!
Still thinking end of first band set as I don't want two slow songs one after the other and I would like to kick off the reception with the traditional bride/groom danceEveryone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!? :huh:0 -
I haven't even thought of a father daughter dance. Don't think we'll bother as it's my step dad and my step sister will be there so it will be a bit awkward I think0

You don't have to do it, its an Americanism like bridal showers. I have seen it before as I have relatives in US and I think its normally the bride and groom first dance which is first.
It doesn't matter though, everyone can do things their own way at their wedding.0
