Getting to and from a meeting by taxi...

I'd definitely leave after it's finished and call a taxi then, otherwise as other people have mentioned, see if other people are leaving \ heading your way that you could catch a lift with?0

I'm the only one going from here yes, last time I did grab a lift but this time I'm on my own. The other attendees will just be coming much more locally and asking fora lift would be v awkward and put them out of their way.0

It's a school -It'll have a reception area to sit and wait in. Just call the taxi firm (or ask the receptionist to call one for you when the meeting is over-they'll know who is good locally) sit down - get out a book or magazine out of your bag and wait. You really are over-thinking this
Do not say "I have to leave by X time" unless you are chairing the meeting -it'd be rude and unprofessional . And you aren't loitering - you're waiting for a cab-it's a normal thing people do after a meeting- but if you feel self conscious waiting - make sure you have the book or magazine so you look "occupied" whilst you wait- but honestly no-one will give it a second thought !Its a poor impoverished state school I'm afraidBut I will try to ask the taxi that takes me for a card and do it that way, else I'll store a couple of number on my phone.
I did think about saying to them something along the lines of "I have to leave at X as I have a taxi coming" but I think its probably best to wait till the end, after all it might finish early and STILL leaving me loitering!I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Do don't get a lift out of their way, just one that takes you somewhere more convenient and get transport from there.0 -
Some mini cab firms give you an automated call back when they're on their way. If you're waiting in reception and get a call then you'll know to look out for it. Would only work if you called from your mobile though or the school called for you from a traceable number (which it may not be if it's a business line).3 stone down, 3 more to go0
