today for the first time ever i bought organic meat12 sausages cost a whopping 5.oo6 beef and 6 chicken and leakbeef in freezer and tonight we ate the chicken ones, i cooked them in oven as i have done many a time with sausagesbut im confused (sorry thats not hard) a) i have never had chicken sausages but b) nothing came out of them ie no fat or wateri must admit they tasted really nice and im a person who is not a huge sausage fanwill i get the same with the beef ie no fat water or was this becuase its chcken sausages we had tonight,
was that expensive for 12 sausages (but judgeing by what i have seen today that many would do us 4 meals if used in casserols etc) and c the dumb question is as above the general difference between standard and organic meati guess im asking this as i was so impressed that if this is a general difference i would now rather buy more organic and eat less/stretch itsorry for a silly question

I suspect that nothing came out of the sausages because chicken is a low fat meat, you may well find that you get some fat from the beef sausages, though generally the better quality sausages be they organic or otherwise will give off less fat than the cheaper ones.
I have recently started purchasing my meat from a local farm that is in the process of converting to organic, which basically means they use organic farming methods, but aren't allowed to use the term organic till they have been farming this way for two years. I have just been to check in my freezer and I have a pack of 8 thin link herby pork sausages (ingredients pork, rusk and herbs) which cost £1.97. The price per kg is £5.25. Please bear in mind these are thin link sausages, if they were thick link I think I would only have got 4 sausages.
I have started to buy as much organic food as possible initially because I was concerned about the pesticide and chemical residues in fruit and veg, and antibiotic and growth hormone residues in meat. I also dislike the inhumane factory farming practices and feel if I am going to eat an animal the least it deserves is a decent life before hand. That said the whole family have commented on how much tastier our food is. My eldest daughters boyfriend commented to her that he loves coming for dinner to our house because he likes the vegetables and he normally hates vegetables!
Like you I now buy less, but buy organic and stretch what I do buy to get the best possible value from it.0
