if he did the same role in an employed capacity prior to going self employed, there may be some lenders prepared to consider this on a full status basis.

He would of course be able to show money being received that demonstrates the level of earnings he is declaring.

Yes he did the same role prior to going self -employed and his earnings went into the Halifax.

I've gone back to self employment late last year and have a remortgage coming up, so I went to talk to the two banks where I have my personal accounts.

HSBC (who I also have my business accounts with) did a bit of poking around both the company account and my personal account and then declared themselves happy to lend me the money if I wanted it.

Nationwide explained to me that they'd also be happy to consider my business provided I can prove to them that I have either a contract renewal or a follow-up contract for my current one. They did seem to be a bit more relaxed about this whole thing compared to HSBC as well so once I know what's happening contract-wise I'll probably bother them again.

In addition to invoices, bank statements and contracts he may also have to provide the HMRC statement - a lender I have spoken to recently would only accept the HMRC statement as proof of self employed income.
