  • Hi there! I'm looking for some serious mentoring and advice regarding couponing! I've been watching "Extreme Couponing" on TV, and i was so impressed with the American men and women who are saving money and donating to charity by simply cutting out vouchers. So, i was wondering if Anyone could give me some 'simple' advice at how i go about starting this in the UK as i don't know where to begin! Apologies if this thread has already been covered!
    Many thanks:)
  • i use to watch extreme couponing on tv but its actually all fake , most of the coupons they have they have actually brought from some one , in the uk we will never get as many coupons as they show on extreme couponing , but i use supersavvy me website and also look on this forum
  • i watched extreme couponing which was how I came across this forum. About 2 - 3 years it actually was possibly to get 90% or so of your shopping for free.. I can honestly say ive done it. You have to be very good at tracking coupons, offers, doing the maths and working deals out and also be prepared to start a stockpile. There are many on this forum who have been on here for 5 years or more who can glorify the 'good old days' when coupons could be used in any store on any product.. whether you were buying it or not. That all came to a halt after a tv programme where Martin Lewis was teaching people about couponing and mentioned this. Weeks later and the procedures at the main supermarkets completely changed to allow the purchase of only the item on the coupon, within date etc. Then came the PDF's which were fab as you could literally print hundreds of coupons for baked 5 Heinz beans for instance and there was no limit as the manufacturer and issuer of the coupon hadn't thought to say 1 per transaction. My family are still eating those tins today.. 2 years later!

Then of course the PDF's we made money on.. the vodka fruit drink.. I forgot its name.. again no max purchase, tescos were having glitches so running 2 for price of offers along side 3 for 2 offers which meant both offers and the coupon were deducted so for every 4 tins you made £1.50 off the rest of your shopping. I hated the drink and gave hundreds away.

I use 9 different sources for all my coupons and don't do the whole writing a letter to complain or commend a product thing. When I find new coupons I post them here.

Im just going shopping now and have £40 worth of coupons. if I decide to buy everything on the coupons. The deals are still there.. just not as many as there used to be.

One day the retailers will realise they will get more shoppers if they embrace and issue coupons themselves.
  • I remember the vodka drink! I don't remember what it was called either. We also ate a lot of Heinz 5 beans. Years ago we had some deal on small bottles of coke which gave you money back off the rest of your shopping at tesco. We got a lot of coke for free!
I agree there are still some good deals out there but nothing like the US extreme couponing show.
I did get quite a few free Santa Maria fajita spice packs from the recent voucher. And 3 pots of free Yeo Valley yoghurt at waitrose.
