FTR DH is a contractor on £500+ per day and he'd love to do jury service!
Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman
  • And yet you'll happily claim £74 a week JSA when you aren't working.

Not getting into this one again.....

Here is the link regarding deferring/being excused jury service:

Although I have sympathy for your circumstances and understand childcare arrangements may be difficult you have to weigh this up with the need for a representative jury.

Certainly ask for a deferment as the baby is so young but do consider making suitable arrangements for childcare for when the child is older so that your wife could do jury service if called upon.

Many people go back to work full time and have to arrange child care for relatively young children so this, in itself, may not be a good enough reason for not being called at a later date.

If everyone deferred (and the majority of us have what we consider to be good reasons) juries would be made up of a very small group of people who would definitely not be representative of the whole.

    Thanks I didnt know that.

There's very little you cant get insurance for these days if you know where to look. Having worked for a range of clients over the years there is a notable group of "entrepreneurs" who like setting up intermediaries to create and sell niche products and then selling the business/ idea to one of the bigger players (often back to the insurer underwriting it or Towergate) and then go onto their next idea
