I've just received my Tesco cards - one was ordered in December, the other beginning of January and they have both come together in the same envelope. I have phoned(no reply and no call back) and also sent several increasingly ratty messages 9again, no replies). At last I have got them now - so there is hope for other people still waiting.

Morning everyone, you move house without me :D

Can I start the day with a cooking question?

I am making quiche or at least vegetable flan. I've got some small indivual round tins and the normal round ones.
Does everyone blind bake the pastry first? Or does it only really matter if you are using a thick ceramic flan dish.
I've got go baking beans, don't even think I've got grease proof so what else can I use? Or can I just !!!!! the bases and pop them in the oven for a few mins to start them off?

Also my recipe needs 50g of breadcrumbs. I've never used these before in a flan so what are these before? I've got them ready anyway, looks a huge bowfull.

I've got youngest son home for a few days. At his house he now has a vegetarian/vegan and that has re kindled his love of cooking. So he has been experimenting with cous cous and bought himself a vast quantity from ebay.
He has also got some flan tins but he got soggy bottoms so we are doing flans today to see if we can cure the soggy bottom problem.

I've got the pastry done and sitting in the fridge ready for him to roll out and the onions fried and ready.

    I've a
So got pancake mix ready for breakfast and the builder has arrived.
    Such fun

a ceramic dish will give you more of a soggy bottom than a metal as does not get as hot
line dish with pastry stab ( this site does not like the word pr*ck :rotfl:) a few times with a fork, cover with a sheet of greaseproof paper or kitchen roll then then a layer of uncooked rice or pasta ( this can be reused next time you want to bake blind)
Bake for about ten minutes, remove rice and paper pop back in the oven for 5 minutes then gently brush with some of your egg mixture and put back in the oven for a few minutes. Now put in your filling and bake.
I know this sounds like a lot of work but the egg will set and stop the filling from soaking into the pastry so no more soggy bottoms:j

It seems that someone in their infinite wisdom has moved my folder from utility room drawer. That folder holds my manuals and paperwork for all my current electrical stuff.

Just wait 'til the booger gets home grrrr

Sorry Enterprise, can't tell you a thing. Well, only that mine is an Indesit with 7 drawers/flaps
I may have email still on old comp so will look later
There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.
