Ebuyer - PC with wrong keyboard - Quest

Hi

I ordered a PC with from Ebuyer with free delivery. When it came it had the wrong colour keyboard. It also had the wrong operating sticker on the front althought the back sticker (cert?) was ok. There was also no operating system disc or back up disk provided (this may be correct).

The system is this one:-
Maxdata Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1,86GHz 1024MB 250GB DVD-RW VGA on board Windows Vista Home Premium 3yrs RTB Warranty

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/128312

Anyway when I went on-line to check how to get these things resolved and I saw this which I would prefer.

Maxdata Computer System Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 2048MB 500GB DVD-RW card reader Windows XP Home http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/128312

So my first question is do you think the wrong colour keybnoard and sticker is grounds for returning it without having to pay postage. I shall order the other one so Ebuyer will still make some money out of me.

If I have not got a leg to stand on what is the cheapest way to return it signed for?

AT present I sent them an e-note requesting advice.

Any advice would be appriciated.

John

It was probably a return / and or made up of spare parts they found!

I ordered a 'new' motherboard from them years ago, when it eventually arrived, it looked like it had been picked up off the warehouse floor and just dumped in a bashed up box, - no inner packing, no accessories, driver CD covered in fingerprints etc. I complained, they collected it and replaced it - with another blatant return.

Earlier this year I gave them another chance and ordered another (advertised as new) motherboard. It was basically a box of rubbish, - 'used' creased manual, scratched CD, and a faulty motherboard with a broken CPU mount!

Returning the items was straight forward on each occasion - sometimes they will arrange for a collection via courier, or sometimes they need you to send it back yourself and then send them a receipt for the postage and they'd seem to reimburse you within 2-4 weeks.

Good luck hope you get it sorted. I don't think you will have any problems being refunded postage.

    Thanks Mike

I have to say they have been pretty good over the years with the stuff I've ordered. I had a faulty DVD player once and it all went smoothy returning it etc.
I'm just concerned if a wrong colour keyboard is ground for a return.
I also think I might be posting in the wrong forum but I'm on nights at present so not firing on all cylinders.

    Cheers

ebuyer drop ship a lot of their stuff so don't actually hold it in stock.
  • I have used ebuyer many times over the years and found their service quite reasonable; also you will find that you have 2 weeks to return your item if not satisfied.

Well I've now got my refund and very pleased with my new PC.

I found the enote system and returns online ok, but it takes time. Ebuyer made a mistake by cancelling a drop off request with city link and I rang them readuy to blow a gasket but the girl was very good and it was collected that afternoon.

So to sum up good prices and OK if goods alright etc. Not bad service when things go wrong but a bit slow.

    Cheers
