Hello.
couple of quick questions, hope you can help,
I was made bankrupt on 4th July 2012, so I should have been discharged on 4th July 2013.
I have not had any contact from my OR since about sept/oct 2012,i know if I want to confirm my discharge I would need to contact the OR office that was dealing with me, my concern is, could they still be looking at me too contribute towards my bankruptcy, or would that be very unlikely after this length of time?
also, I am now in a position were I can start considering to save some money every month, I have a basic account with the co-op,but I have just been turned down for a savings account with them, which I`m still trying to get my head around, anyway, does anyone know of any bank/building society that would accept a savings account from a bankrupt person?, or am I going to have to use a shoe box under my bed.
I would be grateful of any feedback from the forums, thanks.

If you are discharged and were not given an IPA during the 12 month then you wont be given an IPA now as the can only be enforced in the 1st year.
Not sure about the saving accounts , im not at that stage yet but i think there are some threads on here if you search :-)0 -
Awesome, thanks for the reply, good to know about the IPA.

Hello there,
You can check the status of your bankruptcy right here: http://www.insolvencydirect.bis.gov.uk/eiir/IIRNameSearchMapIE.asp
No need to contact the OR

Credit Unions - the most ethical savings there are whether you are BR or not - I am completely fanatical about CU's and anyone can have one - even BR's

I too bank with coop and they would not give me a savings account , but Brittania gave me an isa....makes no sense at all0

I've had no problems with savings accounts. Co-op gave me an ISA at a poor rate (but not a savings account - can't work that one out!). But both Yorkshire BS and Virgin Money have opened accounts for me with no problems.
