Just popped to Asda for a few bits and one of my items was mispriced - asked customer service desk and a very unhelpful lady went and hecked the shelf and grudgingly refunded me the difference, but no gift card? I got this a couple of times before so was wondering if the policy has changed.

I have had a £2 gift card in recent months.
Did you take the item home and return later having discovered the error or did you spot the error at the checkout? In each case that I have claimed it has been after coming back to the store. Any errors I spot before leaving the checkout I get corrected immediately and would not expect additional compensation.0 -
I suspect that the number of these issued counts against the store and the manager. Therefore, unless asked, the staff are ordered to conveniently forget to offer them.If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

Over the years on such occasions that I have had to return to store following being overcharged I have always been given a card without having to ask. A store is only as good as its staff / manager.0

It was after checking out, when I checked the receipt on my way out of store. Had a few misprices in the past so now I always make a point of checking what I`ve been charged for things, as I only go in for the offers and I can`t always keep track at what they go through the till at while I pack the bags.
As I had to go to Customer Service and wait while they (unhappily) checked , I would still expect the compensation - whether I`ve left the shop or not they still charged me full price for an advertised half price item and it is their policy after all.
Maybe I`m just being unreasonable , considering it`s only £2 and something for nothing, but the only reason I know about it is because it`s been offered in the past, and was surprised today it wasn`t.0 -
I have always had to ask for the £2, it has never been forthcoming.0

Give HO a call. They'll send one out to you and give the store a telling off.
From their own website:

I think I've been overcharged, what do I do?
Please visit the Customer Service Desk in store with your receipt, where a colleague will be happy to look into your query.
If you have been overcharged they will issue you with a refund for the difference and a £2 gift card as a goodwill gesture.
It's only a game

No the policy has not changed staff are sometimes not very helpful, but HO always are, contact them with receipt details and they will send you one.
I carry a printout of their policy to show unhelpful staff, though I think they are aware of me now and I never have to ask.
Not absolutely sure but was told they do not offer or try to wriggle out of it because the store has to account for the number of £2
cards and it shows up their inefficiency.Slimming World at target0 -
When it happens to me, one particular lady on Customer services acts as if the money comes out of her own pocket. She never offers a gift card you always have to ask.0

All the more reason to report those stores and managers who are trying to fiddle their statistics at the expense of us customers to the head office.
PS. In fairness, ASDA have become noticeably better at not overcharging (ie. SEL and till discrepancies) in the first place over the past few years. The only problems I've had recently have been scanning duplications, and my last one was in Tesco. If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

They don't bother trying to 'forget' with me anymore. I have about 8 so far this year - at least 1 for every shop! In fact I got a £5 card the other day but that was something I discovered past its BBE date when I go homePeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.
