Need some Advice - Bus did not turn up/wait

Need some advice please.

Normally bus turns up, goes on to ferry with passengers and takes me to bus station where I get a connection for another bus journey taking around 4 hours where I then catch another bus connection which takes 30 mins.

Today bus did not turn up, so managed to contact relative who took me to ferry terminal where caught the boat, the staff there said bus did not go over this morning as it was a bit rough but should be waiting for passengers at the other side.

Yeap, no bus, managed to make way to a train station, where I was told, no train would get me to the bus station for my connection, so had no other choice but to get a taxi !?!

Caught the connection for my 4 hour journey on time, but is there anything can do as you can well imagine out of pocket somewhat.

Thanks for comments and any advice.
Looking forward to the day I have nothing left to list on eBay

Bus company I worked for would issue ticket credits to cover taxi fares etc as long as you had receipts, never known them to refund with cash.

A credit would be something I'd look at, rather than cash refund.

For future, it may be worth leaving slightly more time to catch the connection.

In this situation I have in the past received a cash refund of the taxi fare (on showing the receipt). Credits would be appropriate for inconvenience when you were delayed but not actually out of pocket.

You've obviously never tried to get money out of the company I worked for.
