I wouldn't be bothered about employing a babysitter in their thirties, so long as you didn't mind being paid the same as a teenager or someone in their early twenties. You're 'likely' to be more experienced and or mature for which I might be inclined to pay a small premium.

I'm a granny and babysitting works and pays well, usually for families with more than one child, or older children, for example 8 or 9 yr olds. Also for families that want you to do more than just sit and listen out. Perhaps bath and give them tea and do bedtime, or help with homework if the parents want to go out a bit early. Parents don't want a teenager for this, they want someone older with more experience and dare I say, common sense!! Get known too, but if you're good, the parents don't always want to let their friends know in case you're not free for them so you have to be a bit clever. I've sometimes babysat for 2 families together where a clash has happened. Teenagers can't (or shouldn't) do that!!!

I have 5 jobs, 2 of which came about from jobs I already had. So the babysitting (and it's regular) came from a colleague at a company I already worked at, the other came from a shop I help at and who were looking for someone to do a bit of garden maintenance, hanging baskets etc. Up I jumped with 2 hands in the air. So keep a look out!

    Every little bit helps!!
