got a letter today regarding my request for a signed credit agreement this is what they say:
we write further to your recent letter. We can confirm that on this occasion we are unable to provide a copy of the signed credit agreement for the above account as we are no longer dealing on the above account. We have therefore returned the cheque submitted in that connection.
Please forward all future queries and payments direct to our client.
So anyone know if that means they had already passed the account back or whether it was done after my request? What should I do now? Just wait and see if I hear from anybody regarding the debt??

Good old Moorcroft a terrible firm to be involved with from either side of the fence.
Your best bet is to ask the people that you have the original debt with. If they say the debt is no longer with them they should know who has it now.
If the answer is moorcroft then call them asking who they sold your debt to if they no longer have it.
ALSO, keep a written record of ALL phonecalls made and all written communication with the debt recovery people you have to deal with.
If you have to chase them for information about your account which they hold, its usefull for clawing some money back.
E.g
I worked for moorcroft in Bristol about 7 years ago and was asked to collect on an £8,000 debt from a company in Brislington. The finance officer in the company had been refusing to pay because he had been chasing moorcroft with letters and phonecalls for months. I asked them to work out how much they had paid out in stamps, calls, envelopes , time etc and a week later was shown a rough estimate (including manhours) of £600. I asked them for a cheque for £7,400 and told them I'd clear the debt for that amount. They agreed, wrote the cheque and I left. I called the company later that day and was told I shouldn't have done it, but the debt was cleared.
Moorcroft and companies like them BUY your account , they then have the problems of collecting so you can, sometimes get them to take less than they want.0 -

They have passed the account back to the original credior after your CCA request because they didn't have one. Now you can do one of two things a) wait until the original creditor contacts you and then you can CCA them if you wish or b) get in touch with original creditor now either to make payments of CCA them now. Personally I would wait till somebody contacts you, though it may be another DCA which again, you will need to CCA them. What sort of debt is it?0 -
I think I will wait until someone contacts me then do the CCA again. Its a catalogue debt.0

Then I'd wait as it verrrrrrrrry unlikely they will have a CCA

I have never signed anything so I'd like to see them produce one. Thanks again for your help.0

I'm in exactly the same predicament...please see my thread:D
My questions are:
(1)Have you got a default for this debt or adverse credit? If so, how will you get this removed?
(2)If you know there is no SCA, why dont you just contact the company now and get it over and done with as I thought another DCA could give you a CCJ?
(3)Did you pay any of the debt at all?
Thanks

ok well...
1. I have no idea and dont really care either way I just want to be out of debt. I'm not even bothered about getting credit ever again so figure it doesnt matter.
2. Dont you have to get as far as court to get a CCJ? Without the CCA it cant go to court can it?
3. Yes, I did make monthly payments but they wanted more than I could afford and wouldnt budge.
I'm new to all this so I may be wrong in what I'm saying about the CCJ etc I'm just basing what I've just written on what I read and how I understand it, whether I'm right or not is a different matter :rotfl:0
