PSP (or maybe a Nintendo DS)

Hi!
I'm off on holiday in a months time. It's a bloomin' long flight and there will be long periods of time sitting on a beach, which is my wife and daughters idea of a holiday. I'm toying with the idea of chucking a console in my luggage as well as a load of books and like the look of the PSP. Are there any offers on at the moment?

I could possibly be swayed into getting a DS. I've wasted lots of time in the past playing simulations (driving etc) which seems the PSPs line of country, strategy games and RPGs (I guess I'm stuffed.) Any recommendations?

Game or games station they tend to have more upto date deals with the newer games as part of the bundle and keep their price inline with price drops which there has been reciently.

Here we go
3 flavours of PSP not including colours
Base pack, Value pack and giga pack
Base pack comes with a psp, battery and charger RRP is about £130

Value pack comes with a psp, battery, charger, protective pouch, headphones inline remote control a demo disk and a 32mb memory card. RRP was £170 but can be got alone now for about £150

Giga pack comes with a psp, battery, charger, protective pouch, headphones inline remote control a demo disk and a 1GB memory card. price was £215 but is now £160

The value pack was really worth buying for the extras before Sony dropped the base pack price to £130 from £150, the extras were worth the money but they are not worth £40 if you cant find them at the newer reduced price £20 they are worth the extra you can always buy the extra bits up off ebay if you want them the remote is good for watching films and the case helps protect the thing.

Game have base pack deals with 2 games for £150 or base pack and 1 game for £140 but their choices of games is usually a limited selection
Gamestation do base pack and 1 game for £130. BP and 2 games for £145 or 3 games for £160 but the selections are also limited but normally better than game. They also have the BP and any game for £145 if you want to pick the game from what the shop has.

memory sticks are dirt cheap now so I wouldnt bother about only having a 32mb one with the value pack just buy a 2GB or 4GB (not from eBay or amazon market place)check out scan.co.uk about £23 for 2GB or £40 for 4GB

The only thing to buy after is a screen protector to stop it getting scratched as scratches do spoil the look of the PSP screen when playing games or movies.

The DS is a great machine loads of fun games like wario ware and brain training super mario and tetris but very kiddy orientated easy to pick up and play where as the PSP is more a grown up games gachine with driveing games and first person shooters, I have the best of both worlds with a DS and a PSP. My PSP is an original 1.5 firmware which gives it special powers and the DS I have an R4 cartridge which also gives special features. saveing me money in the end so they dont even have benefits in those sides of things either both can do it. The big thing with the PSP is movie playback its brilliant specially using UMD movies and they can be got for not a lot of money now.

I've done the usual searches on Google and Ebay etc but finish up with info and sales of all the games and bits & pieces etc. Where's the best place to buy the machine?

With the PSP its very easy to play films and games (even PS1 games) from the memory stick. I'm not sure I'd take a PSP or a DS to the beach mind you.

I got my DS from Tesco, for nothing with the r+r policy
