You certainly can eat them
Best thing is just to serve them up in a bowl with sugar and cream. You may not want too much sugar depending how sweet they are.

How about making a flan with them (mmm love strawberry flan), or make a smoothie, or maybe your own jam
Wish I had a garden full of wild strawberries, wouldn't be able to do anything with them cuz DS and his mates would have probably eaten them before I got my hands on them :rotfl: :rotfl:

We have wild strawberries in our garden, but the fruit is so small it's not worth picking. You would need an awful lot to make anything from them.
We do have loads of raspberries though, so I might make some jam from them. I've still got pounds in the freezer from last year, so don't want to end up with a freezer full!0 -
thanks everyone!
we have hundreds and hundreds so would probably take me ages to pick enough to make anything with them! At least I now that I cen let my 17 month old loose on the garden now and not worry about her eating them which she has been trying to do0 -
Ours never reach the house! Much too tastyDoing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -
I have a patch of wild strawberries in my garden, and in the past I have done the following with them:
Made a rhubarb and wild strawberry crumble.
Frozen the berries, and used them as "ice-cubes" in a glass of fizzy peach archers:D .
Put them in jam recipes
Used then in a strawberry jelly, and on a trifle (for decoration).A woman is like a tea bag. You never know how strong she is until she gets into hot water.:D0 -
We have lots of these and I find that, if left to their own devices, they get bigger each year. They are a lot less trouble, IMHO than cultivated strawberries which seem much more prone to be savaged by birds and snails. They aren't, I think, great for cooking with but are delicious just as they come off the plant, or with cream, ice-cream or yogurt.
