unemployed bankrupt and now accepted for a vanquis card

8 months into bankruptcy and filled in a pre-approved form which I received in the post, expecting to fail yet received call any explained I'm unemployed and still passed, these people must accept anyone!
I thought it was impossible to get a credit card whilst bankrupt, and APR of 40% which for them is quite good. no intention of using it except for petrol every couple of months to improve credit rating

I believe you are only allowd up to £500 credit while you are an undischarged BR so check the credit limit carefully.0

You can have credit over £500 but you have to let the lender know you are BR.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

In many ways, such offers are potentially a solution to one of the stickiest problems a BR can face [according to the pages of this forum??]
That being, given one's SOA, where does the spare cash come from,to fund those sudden emergencies?
Perhaps Provident [who traditionally provided credit to those more economically-strapped people?]...realise that a BR individual is a better bet with regards to paying off on time?
Or, more likely, Provvy [as we used to know them?}...are feeling the pinch, and are trying to further tap sub-prime markets?
Go for it, if you can...........you don't have to 'use' it, but it is there if an emergency arises? No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
Yes, I got one before discharged, only £200 limit but now at £2100, i use it and pay it all off every month, handy credit if used wisely, I also got a Barclays current account with no overdraft0

Did you clean your credit file first or just apply with defaults?Bankruptcy and Supporters club... Member 340.

I applied for Vanquis 6 months after discharge and was accepted.
I didn't do any sort of credit file clean up. Been using it once a month and paying off in full.
Since I've been doing this, they've put up credit limit too!0 -
can confirm recieved card and apr is 39.9% for purchases and 49.9% for cash0

Soooo.... Do you have to inform the OR that you've got a credit card, if you get it before your AD?
I'm interested because I occasionally need to hire a car and it would be soooo much easier with a CCard.:o0
