I wanted to give you all a big thanks because due to the advice given to me on this forum I have managed to get rid of a whopping grand and a half of debt this month.
I'm so delighted I can hardly speak! I never for one second thought I would make it this far and here I am with almost half my debt gone.
You lot are just the greatest.

Congratulations! Tell us what you did!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I did some extra work that made £200. I sold some equipment to my employer that made £860. And I managed with majorly cutting back on everything to put about £450 from my wages towards my debt.
I had a bit of a crisis when the cheque from my employer arrived. I desperately wanted to book a holiday somewhere hot and sunny but you lot persuaded me that this was NOT a good move and that paying off my debt would be better.
As a result I'm heading off camping today up the west coast of Scotland. I'm really excited! :j I've worked out a budget that means it shouldn't cost too much more than staying at home. So I'm off with OH for a week! Woo hoo!

Good for you! I like the bit about the holiday especially - still getting the holiday, but doing it so that it doesn't cost a mint! Enjoy.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

good for you - and proving to yourself that you have made real changes in your lifestyle will mean that once debt free you are more likely to stay that way.

Can I suggest one small extra expense that will make the holiday much better?
Buy a couple of midge hoods and take old hats or baseball caps. Given the amount of wet we have had the £4 will be well spent (you will be less inclined to hole up in the cafe or the pub).
Other things are to learn when the wind changes from flowing off the land to flowing on the land (the lull is about 8-9pm ish). Eat supper early so you can take a walk on a headland or get down on the beach during this time.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
That's really good going. Well done and enjoy your holiday xxJanuary budget
