wedding photographer - home visit?

  • There's no right or wrong answer here and this topic rages on within the wedding photography community.

Some swear blind that getting the customer to visit the photographer's studio/home is best because then it shows the customer is serious and the studio/home is set up to show a good impression and is free from distractions.

Personally I give my customers the choice. 9/10 they choose for me to visit them. Usually because they are both working during the day and in the evenings they have kids that are often in bed or tired. The last thing they want is to arrange a babysitter.

The only thing I'd say is that legally if the photographer comes to you then you do have 7 days cooling down period to cancel the contract and receive your deposit back should you pay on the spot. Some photographers don't like that. Personally it doesn't bother me since I never want to feel like I've pressured anyone into signing.
