When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending:money:
Morning
Jesus is it not the weekend already??!What a long week, am knackered and just want to stay in bed! Dragged myself out sitting here drinking coffee & trying to get rid of a fuzzy head! Have promised myself a few glasses of wine, a book & an early night tonight!
Things for the day:
* checked banking
* did vsp & will update sig
* checked cc statement
* paid £12 to debenhams store card - will cancel this now
* check onepoll
* submit expenses
* vacuum & polish lounge tonight
* all meals from stores
* shred this evening
* stick to diet
* chase up email I sent to WW asking for a refund - my group closed down suddenly!
* NSD?
Think that's all and am now on the countdown to 5pm
Happy Friday everyone

Thanks for starting us off this morning determined new ms. Happy Friday to you and everyone else. I am working a half day from home (as long as ds1 let's me on my laptop :rotfl:) then catching up with friend and her children before a birthday meal for my sister this evening so a nice but busy day ahead. Will keep my list short and try to add to it if I can.
- Check bank (payday yay)
- Pay money on credit card
- Bump facebay posts
- Turn things off if not in use
- Possibly get some washing in the line
if it stays bright long enough (on the airer if not) - Just buy what I need when I go to the shops later, a card, some honey and almonds.
- Make the most of friends and favours and be grateful a friend is looking after the boys this evening.
- Remember to take voucher to dinner tonight.
- If I get a chance (time when someone else is here to look after the boys a quick run for some free exercise, may have to wait until tomorrow though).
Core taking a phone call and boys wanting things means it has taken me about half an hour just to write this post, no wonder I sometimes struggle to get through my to do lists.Debt as at January 2014 £13,546.84Current £11,485.15 - 15.42% paid - moving in the right directionDebt free date [STRIKE]Jan 2016 Dec 2015[/STRIKE] Nov 2015MMH 35 - SFD 8/15 FB 266.46/240 T-O 0/0 donation 3/£3 LTW 8/10 exercise 12/12 neighbour favour? Good morning! The sun is shining and it is at last Friday. I paid off a chunk of my CC debt yesterday and am still buzzing from the excitement!
Have just arranged to grab a lift to / from work as a friend has a training course sort of nearby. Means I need to get skates on now as also a little walk to the rv point this am. Good exercise in the sun. DONE
Paying guest leaves today - I get my bedroom back! Very excited about that. Long bath tonight to celebrate. He has gone, but left some food behind
Been turning off lights / power at switches religiously for a while now. Its becoming a bit OCD.
Lunch - must eat Wednesdays soup today! Been in fridge at work for a few days.
Expenses form at work Failed to do this as rushing to catch that lift! Must do Monday. Crazy not to.
Must sort out bike ready for next week. DONE! All pumped up ready to go and shed tidied so can get it in and out more easily.
Make very LSD plans for the weekend. A quiet one visiting friends new house and catching up with mate with baby I think. Have already warned them am stoney broke so no cash for coffee out - unless its at John Lewis! Awkward when they say '"I'm sure I can shout you elevenses out". They do earn a lot more than me, but I am happy to stay in here or there for a cuppa instead. What would you do?
Happy debt slaying everybody!0 -
Good Morning everyone

checked online banking
Breakfast toast and marmalade..decided not to open a new pack of bagels. Will do over the weekend.
Soup made yesterday plus big pot of spag bol so that should suit all tastes today. Have GB in freezer and a salad to go with it.
Going to visit family a distance away and need to stop to bring some fresh bread/buns with me. Have a budget so will stick to it. Diesel £40 which should last to end of month.
Need to stop en-route home to pick up a bag of coal for a big warm fire tonight. Budgeted for. Otherwise purse closed.
take care all.0 -
Good morning. it is very noisy here. Work men are doing something with the drains right outside next door.
A week never goes by without their being temporary lights and the workmen are digging up the busy main road.
Breakfast = a FREE SAMPLE of Kellogg's All Bran red berry crunch. Very nice.
The sun is out - at last. So I am off for a walk withpuppy soon.
Washing machine on with sons chef clothes. Going to use my new pegbag. I sewed it yesterday.
Cleaned bathroom, washed dishes. Done some surveys.
Paid for my winning bid on fleabay = 100 -8" white zips for my crafting. I did not need half that but it was a job lot.£10.45 with postage. A better bargin than £1 for x1 that the CH wanted.
Need to decide on dinner. It will be something veggi. I think penny pinching times meat is just to much money for every day.
I thought I might look for a recipy using Philadelphia.
Electric saving, as ever! I have looked round and unplugged as people have gone out. Still had to pay £24.43 for last weeks duel fuel. Read the meters, on line customer.
Hopefull it will not be many more weeks of having any CH on.
Have a penny pinching day :0)The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
Morning all,
Today's small positive money saving things:
*Cleaned entire house using minimal products (can't believe how long a bottle of 'Stardrops' lasts, if used diluted in a spray bottle).
*Switched de-humidifyer off & opened a few windows instead.
*Steak & kidney in the slow cooker for dinner.
*Quite a few surveys done.
*Cashed in Toluna survey points for a £10 John Lewis voucher. (I get ridiculously excited by vouchers!)
*mr f trying to mend his mobile phone.....trying another factory re-set tonight, otherwise it'll be back to the phone shop to get a repair or replacement. Odd problem as the sound has stopped working, so although the phone works fine, it doesn't ring or do any text alerts or work on car hands-free speaker.
*Meal plans tweaked to allow for family visiting next week.
*Shopping list written. Last shop using February budget. Hope we don't ruin it at this late stage & overspend. Not a very big list though, so fingers crossed mr f doesn't get the 'red mist' at the butcher's.......
*Made list of money-related jobs I need to do in town tomorrow.
*Tart up jar of my home made marmalade with a pretty lid & ribbon to take as little gift to friend who has invited us to dinner this weekend.
*Knit a bit more of the slouchy hat I cast on last night. Love the pattern....think will put in the present box when it's done for one of my friends.
*Aim for at least an hour in the garden, finishing clearing the herb bed, as rain stopped play yesterday. If time, start clearing the black hole of doom up behind the greenhouse. May need extra coffee for that. Want everything ready for the start of veggie growing season.
OK, that'll do for today. Have a good Friday, & keep your hot little paws on your pence!
foxgloves x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -

So - got some way with my jobs, and am just settling down to YS jacket spuds which are baking in the oven (doing extra for Sundays tea at same time) plus also in the oven defrosting is some sweet and sour veggies left over from last weekend to go on the top. Going to settle down on the sofa and watch a bit of catch up TV on iplayer, heating is off but duvet and hot water bottle are ready! Followed up by a kit kat (been craving chocolate for a long time, gave in and bought 4 for £1 in sainsbobs today). Wild start to the weekend, hey!!0 -
