Panga Fish

DH wanted fish and chips for tea tonight, and yes I know not very OS, but it was late and I'd just got in from work so I went down local chippie and they were advertising Panga Fish and chips at £3, as opposed to £3.80 for Cod and chips. I decide to try it, but got cod for DH in case he moaned!
It was delicious, very moist, with a lovely flavour. As it happened DH said his cod was a bit dry and tasteless.
I have never heard of this fish before, but anyone else tried and liked a good alternative to the overfished cod?

Panga is a cat fish widely farmed and seen in American supermarkets labelled as Bassa. Because Panga can be raised in fish farms it can be readily harvested and becomes a sustainable source.
My son was looking at those the other day in his book so I knew what it was :rotfl:Eventually found that which will explain why they seem to be using it.One day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
In Spain it´s used a lot in ´Brit´ restaurants as we can´t get cod out here. The fillets are generally thinner than cod, sometimes being more plaice like. We get ours from the frozen food chap who delivers to our village0

My fishmonger suggested it to me when I was looking for plaice and he had sold out.0
