Is Salou suitable for a "Lad's Holiday"?

Hi there some of my son's friends (all 17 and 18) are going to Zante on a lads holiday which is costing well over £500 each for a week this July. Luckily my son saw sense and didn't book. Now he and a mixed group of 10 people of similar age are wanting to book a week's holiday together first or second week in July this year. Their criterion seem to be sunny, beach and a"strip" of bars for the evening. They're not interested in the 18-30s type thing of organised bar crawls and what you see on the telly although they all like to have a good time but will be doing this as a group rather than with strangers. Anyway enough ramblings I have never been to Salou but it's a nice short, cheap flight to Reus and a short transfer to Salou from there. But the question is would it be suitable does anything think? Don't want to send them somewhere where it's just orientated towards families although they'd probably like Portaventura and then could go to Barcelona for the day. Any recommendations for apartments - which area should I be looking at? One of the party suggested Albufeira. Flights are a bit more expensive but would this be a better bet. Would appreciate any advice as I want them all to get best value out of their small budget!

Somebody asked a similar question http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g562814-i9698-k7135622-Salou_for_a_Lads_Holiday-Salou_Costa_Dorada_Province_of_Tarragona_Catalonia.html
Don't forget that some accommodation places may not like a group of 10 lads turning up at the same time.
So perhaps consider how the 10 could naturally be split up into smaller groups and perhaps consider them booking separately. For the flights, the 17 year olds may need to be booked with 18 year olds or older.
Here's a leisure page for a browse http://www.visitsalou.es/Turisme/turisme_directori_llista/_XPj_uZerNSZIQx4tHQwzjOwJFZEsh7-rNHHIU-YSNLTEZMXw8n0kLnIlFcpiJE6oPosts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
thanks I saw that on Tripadviser but it was the only thread on that subject so just wanted to check other people's opinions. Thanks for the tips -I will probably try and contact the accommodation providers to check they will accept teenage bookings0

If there aren't enough 18 year olds or older going you may have to use a tour operator.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

We have been to salou many times, I don't think a group of 17 18 year old's would enjoy it, lots of bars but not really aimed at the younger end, and very few groups of lads and lasses. If they are looking at Spain benidorm would be the best bet. A mix of young and old plenty of bars for younger end, and plenty of hens and stages at weekend. The obvious ones are Ibiza and magaluf, maybe bait wild for a first time.0

Yes, they would have a great time.
Plenty of bars, discos, clubs and lots of Scandinavian girls!
Quite a good suggestion for first holiday abroad.
You can book things separately but would likely need someone 18+ in each room to hand over passport and be responsible for breakage deposit. If they want them there are bar crawls and any rep would book them on even if their holiday is booked separately0 -
Possibly not what you want to hear, but I know two young men that had a great week in Salou - because it is not a young resort they were quite an attraction to the women there, they had more offers than they knew what to do with!0

OMG you mean grab-a-granny!0

I've been there, it is suitable, if all they want to do is get drunk they will be fine there as lots of bars and good beach. Personally I thought it was a dump though and would chose somewhere else.0

thanks for all help so far. One of the main draws of Salou is the cheap and short flights. Please could anyone give any tips about what area would be best to look for apartment. I've tried looking at a map of Salou but am unclear where the main bar/club area is0
