Hi I wanted to ask (and I'm not sure u can answer tbh) if u can advise me who's best to help me and my dh. He's hit the wall and is off work with stress/depression and will only get 6weeks full sick pay. After that point we r screwed financially. If I'm honest I needed help before this however I kept trying to juggle it all but this had cemented it. We have loans credit cards finance for a 3piece and car finance. Should I deal with a debt organisation or someone like mind given his current state? And can u advise if there's an option to sort it all out but keep our house (we have pets we wouldn't want to lose by going into rented, most wouldn't take 2dogs5cats) and the car (its "his" and I don't like to think what losing it might do in his head)as we have no savings and both need our cars to get to work (6am starts and buses don't work) once he's back. Sorry this is a bit long winded but just looking for a starting point if u cud suggest anything please I'd b grateful. Thanks

    Hello Mismatch,

I'm sorry to learn about the situation you and your husband find yourselves in. We have very good relationships with both Mind and Rethink. Both can provide you with lots of practical help and advice, not only in regards to how your partner is currently feeling - but also in relation to financial difficulties too. In addition, our own advisers have significant experience in helping people who suffer from depression and stress-related illnesses. We're always here to help - and there will certainly be options to help you get back on track.

Keeping your house, cars and pets would always be something that we would try and help you to do. It's difficult to give you an absolute guarantee - but very few of our callers have to give their assets up.

You're very welcome to give us a call.

    Very best wishes,

    David.

    Hello all,

Hope you have been keeping well. It's been a little while since I've posted here, I apologise for that. For the last few weeks I have been working in a different role. I have been looking after our mentor team. The mentors are the team responsible for ensuring that we provide the very best, most technically accurate service to our callers. They have generally been here the longest and are very knowledgable. It has been fantastic to look after the mentors for the last few weeks as I started here at National Debtline with most of them - back in 2006.

The reason I'm telling you this is because today is my last day. So, to finish with the folks I started with has been a real privilege. We plan to keep this diary going, it's very likely to be my good friend Dennis that will continue - though you may see some new names on the forum over time. It has been great to make your acquaintance!

I wish you all the very best with your diaries and your quests to become debt-free.

    Best wishes,

    David.

  • This diary is a wealth of information, it would be lovely, if it could be continued. I for one think it would help many of the people just starting on their debt free journeys to get an idea of where to start and the links they might need.
