Need advice regarding work!!

Hi guys im a newbie here so please go easy on me,
I need advice regarding the company I work for. I have a contract working as a security guard tue-sat 45-50 hours a week. Last year I got a court order for more time with my son so I asked for flexible working which they approved. This meant I would now work mon, tue, thur, fri 40 hours a week. I earn £6.50 an hour and have for the last four years. I pay csa through my wages and ive had to pay solicitors fees.
Recently I applied for a job that pays more than what I get now and its working sat and sun, I was told last week I had been successful and have been offered the job. My employers have said that I can not take the job as its a conflict of interest (its a totally different role working for the local authority) they have then said if I take the job I need to hand my notice in. Which I said im not because I can do both jobs. They then said they would revert me back to my old contract tue-sat. This would stop me seeing my son and stop me working my new job. Can they do this?

So they made arrangements, probably to their detriment, so that your hours would be cut down and you would have Saturday off to spend with your child. Not something they had to do but they did to support you. Now you are saying that you will take another job, hence increasing your hours and working Saturdays anyway.... I can see why they have decided that you didn't need the flexibility offered any longer and you should revert to your old contract. I do believe they can indeed do so.0

Way to go in !!!!ing your employer of!
To answer the question, unless they said it was a temporary arrangement then its unlikely they could change it back to what it was before.
You would have to check your contract regarding other work and how long have you worked for them for?Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
I think they are behaving like pigs, but yes I think they can do it. On the basis above, and also possibly on the basis that your total working hours per week mean that you wouldn't be able to do their job properly. (I'm not sure what the legal position is on the second point, and would appreciate it if someone knows definitively!)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

My contract says nothing about other work and ive worked for them for four years.0 -

Then, was the agreement a temporary one, if not I can't see how they can change your contract without causing strife. However, that boat may have sailed.
I don't think they legally can do anything but they could change your contract back for 'business reasons' to how it was and you would then have to go through a tribunal to see if the change was fair or not.
Might be worth posting on redundancyforum.co.uk for another view from SarELDon't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0
