My dining room chairs are REALLY hard and uncomfortable (not helped by a back that's a bit too narrow) but there's no spare cash to replace them, so I wondered if anyone had any advice? I wondered about making slip covers, and padding the chairs underneath with foam - which won't be seen - but I've no idea how to even start.
Has anyone done anything like this?

We padded our dining room chairs. Ours had removable seats so I bought some memory foam and cut a square to fit the seat and then bought some hard wearing cotton and stapled it over the foam with a staple gun so that the staples were underneath the seat. Then popped the seat back into the chair frame.0

Ikea do some good quality ivory cotton chair covers for £5 each - you could always buy one & try padding out a chair underneath before you go ahead and pad out all of them?0
