New Employer - Driver Profiler

My new employer wants / requires me to take an online driver profiler as I will be driving quite a bit as part of the new job.

To be honest I'm a bit miffed about it as I've been driving 17years, never had an accident, made a claim etc etc.

I don't think I've got anything to worry about but what if the profiler comes back in a negative way even though I'm a good driver (yes that's my opinion I know).

I feel answering questions on a computer screen is very different to making real time decisions when driving.

Perfectly normal. Particularly if driving a company vehicle. In my last job, I had to pass an internally administered proficiency test before I was allowed to use the pool car.

You employer is legally responsible for ensuring you work in a way that doesn't endanger your safety or the safety of the public. Passing a test 17 years ago doesn't automatically mean you are currently a safe driver. Some further reassurance about your driving skills is sensible, and if it highlights any deficiencies they could require you to undertake further driver training (or even withdraw the job offer!)

If you were to take a driving test today, you would be required to undertake two PC based tests - knowledge and hazard awareness.

Isn't the time to conduct this at the intrerview stage?
    Don’t be a can’t, be a can.
  • We do these every year with all employees who driver company vehicles or their own vehicle on company business, it forms part of our insurance requirements and keeps our premiums down.

Well I took the profiler last night and came back as medium risk!

Again slightly annoyed as they rate you in 10 different areas and I was low risk in 9 and medium risk in 1 yet get rated as medium risk. Now been informed by HR I need to undertake an internal driving awareness course.
