Divorce Party Ideas?

Hi all
This is not really a money saving plea but just need a few ideas on something and I know everyone here is always quick to lend useful advice!
My divorce will be coming through soon and I was planning on having a few friends and family round to mark my return to singledom however it's kinda snowballed and I now have more people than my house can accomodate wanting to come along! A friend has kindly offered a hall which I can have for free and my family have offered to do catering and decoration so it really won't cost me much.
Before anyone starts hurling abuse about treating it as a joke, I took my vows very seriously and like most people thought when I married it would be for life. I tried far too long to save a marriage that would have eventually destroyed me and I am in a much happier and healthier place now, so I see it as a chance to recognise a change in my life and to celebrate it with those who have meant so much to me this past year.
It's just I'm kinda stuck on what should happen at my 'Divorce Party' or 'Freedom Party' as I prefer to call it!
Any suggestions? Has anyone ever been to one and can relay their experiences?
Any help would be appreciated!
Jo

Not had any experience sorry but what about a cocktail theme, you know very sex in the city. I love woo woo cocktails thats vodka, peach snapps and cranberry juice.
Also the music you could go for songs that match the occasion, all the cheesy songs that would probably make your friends laugh for example I'm still standing, Girls just wanna have fun, Its raining men, Wild women do etc.
Good luck I hope you have a good night and celebrate your new beginning with style.0 -
Haven't been to one, wouldn't go to one!
Of the two, if you feel you simply must see it as a celebratory event - then maybe "Freedom Party" is the better option?
I'm sorry your marriage didn't work out. You're very fortunate to be in a position to see the occasion as an event worthy of celebrating and I wish you well.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
