Mortgage solicitor fee's reclaim ?

Has anyone else had any phones calls about this ?
Basically we had a phone call from a company about claiming against solicitors fee's when we took out our mortgage. Saying that as our solicitors fee's were meant to be done as a separate little loan to run alongside the mortgage but for a term of 3-5 years whereas its been added into the mortgage so runs for 25 years and that this shouldn't of been done that way.
Haven't heard of this before so thought I would see if anyone else has heard of it x

Yes. There are a few scams like this doing the rounds at the moment.

That is bogus. There is no such requirement.

Its a scam. There is no wrong doing here fees can be added to the mortgage. Many people do it. The sub account they are added to can be paid off on a period of your choice. If you decide to do it immediately, 3-5 years or the full term, then that is your choice. It is not a mis-sale reason at all.

What most of these scams do is tell you about compensation quoting some made up amount and then whilst your greed is focused on that, they hit you with an up front charge. Your complaint has no chance of success. And indeed, a complaint may never actually be made. However, you have paid an upfront fee and the scam company makes their money on that.

  • Cheers thanks for that info, I didn't engage too much in the phone convo with them as we suspected if it was genuine we would of heard about it by now.
Always worth double checking everything though
