Jobs for people on the day

Hi, Just a quick question, who are you getting to do what on the day?
I'm just trying to think of someone to look after my handbag for me. My mum is going to have her own so might look a bit nuts walking around with two handbags.
I'm doing a DIY sweetie table who do I get to set that up or do I sort of set it up at home take a picture and let the venue deal with it?

My son and DIL had a sweetie table, they got one of their bridesmaids to do it all, it was lovely.0

I'm hoping that my make-up, emergency kit etc will fit in my Mum's handbag. It's my wedding day so there's not much need for anything else I don't think.
I have to set up the reception in the morning (well, we do, not just me). I fully intend to rope in as many people as is necessary. Luckily everyone will be close by by then and many hands will make light work of it I hope. I'm pretty sure I don't want to see my fianc! until the ceremony though so I don't know how that's going to work!0 -

We are exactly the same, DD{6} and I are staying at the venue the night before so it's just us 2 setting up the venue, lord knows how I'll do that!!!PAD 2023 Debt total as of Dec 2022 £18,988.63*April £17,711.03

Good luck Louise! If I was on my own I think I'd have a plan of attack ready in my head, just so I didn't end up running around like a headless chicken.
I'd considered asking my fiance to sort it out with his friends but I have this picture in my head of how it's going to be and the control freak in me says no-one else will do it right, lol.0 -
Thanks. We're only having a small wedding. The venue is 40miles from where I live and 40 miles from where OH and his family are from. His Dad is his best man and we're getting married on a Friday so it's going to be a struggle asking for help on the Thursday. The only thing I need to do is put birdcages and petals down. Florist will sort pedestals and table arrangement out. Venue will do chair covers, so as long as there isn't a function in the room on the Thursday night everything should be fine!!!

This. I'm also planning to see if there's somewhere secure at our venue where we could perhaps leave a bigger bag of useful things (spare tights, earring backs, paracetamol etc) in case I or any of the bridesmaids needs to grab something quickly that won't fit in a handbag.
Our florist will set up the floral displays for us at the venue but we have to bring back anything we've hired the next day, and our caterers will put out the menus/place cards etc on the tables.
The only other job I can think of for us (though I'm sure there'll be more!) is putting the orders of service on the chairs, which will probably end up being given to one of the ushers."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
Ooh, this has got me thinking! We're planning that the "boys" (groom best man and ushers) will go and set up the reception venue in the morning (we're not getting married until 3pm, they'll need something to keep them occupied) and either we'll all decorate the church the day before, or the "girls" (me, matron of honour, bridesmaids and my mum) will decorate the church.
I'd thought for our sweetie table just to get everything ready in the jars in advance and then give it to the reception venue to put out when the time comes (They're open to the public until 4pm so it can't be out early! LOL)
I think it's traditional for bridesmaids to be the one to carry the contents of the bride's handbag (i.e. spare tights, lippie, etc).
I also plan to give my chief bridesmaid access to my facebook page, so she can go and update my name for me! That way I won't have to facebook during the day LOLOfficially saved enough to cover the cost of our wedding! :A0 -
I've roped the bridesmaids in to help get ready in the morning and to set up the sweetie table for me but everything will be already in jars so all they have to do is put them on the table oh and they'll need to set up the table with my candle and photo of my mum. Hotel are putting place cards etc out for us and decorating the room. The bestman and usher have to move oh stuff from his hotel room to our room and then have been asked to help the girls and direct people to the right places etc mother in law will have my handbag for me, girls are looking after my flowers xxxDebt free finally :j

The venue is setting up most of the decorations, the only thing I might have to do is the sweetie table but if I already put them in jars it won't take long.
My bridesmaids are 13 and 8 so can't really ask them to look after my handbag. Might ask my sister to look after it for me

I had a (tiny) sewing kit tucked in my stocking top. Mum had the official kit, but was up front at church & dad was twitchy, hence I said my vows with a wrap of thread & needle digging into my leg.
I think a 13 year old would be OK with a pair of stockings & the like, but not the phone or creditcards...
"Is this really necessary" is a useful thought experiment...0
