Best Freelance and Task Websites

Hello. I am considering doing some freelance work and I thought that the best way to get started would be to go to freelance and task websites and advertise my idea/skills on them.
I am, however, unsure of what the best freelance and task websites are.
It will be home based Internet work so it does not matter if the site is not UK based so long as I can be paid via Paypal.
Which are the best websites for me to use?
Thankyou.

Anyone? I am sure there must be some sites.0

For what kind of work?
There are hundreds out there, but you need to be more specific.0 -
I said in the original post that it would be internet work. The work is on websites.0

Still, there are literally 100s, and "internet work" doesn't narrow it down very much!
There's sites like Swagbucks and Clixsense that allow you to do "tasks" to earn a few pence here and there. I assume this is what you mean when you say work on websites? Swagbucks is the most popular around here, but I don't use it myself.
There's also numerous freelance job sites where you can bid on various projects - eLance, PeoplePerHoure, Freelancing.com. If you have a skill and experience in a particular field, you can make a decent income. Competitive though, as most of them work on a "bidding" system, so your bid for a job has to be picked above all others.
Hope that helps somewhat!0 -
O desk is one that is mentioned frequently.Living the dream and retired in Cyprus :j

No I mean internet work as in working with websites. Think along the lines of design or coding - that type of internet website work.
I already use Swagbucks. I am not a fan of the tasks on them websites and do not wish to do that type of "work". I wish to offer a proper service based on websites. As I say I want to do freelance work.
Thankyou for the list of freelance job sites.
Are all of them bid only or are you able to advertise the service on any? The service I have in mind will be useful to many but not one most will think to ask for.0 -

If you stuck to one thread on the subject rather than starting multiple, you might find it easier to keep track of the answers

I am keeping track of both threads. The threads are asking different questions which is why I started two. One was not getting any answers when I started the second anyway.
I know people on here use freelance and task sites to boost their income hence why I asked on here if people could tell me the best sites to use.
The other thread was asked on the employment boards because I wished to know about the business side of being a freelancer.
They may have overlapped a little but I did not ask for websites on the other thread.0 -
I think a lot of people mentioned these sites for freelance tasks:
1. Odesk
2. Elance
3. Freelancer
4. Staff.com
The first 2 sites have merged last year and their main traction is more on contract jobs. Same goes with Freelancer. However, Staff.com is a bit different, they focused more in long term partnership with clients/hiring full time employees.0 -

I woul recommend Fiverr even although it has a mixed bag of feedback.
I've been a member of the site for three years both as a buyer and seller and my experience to date has been positive.Lao Tzu - "Give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime"
