Best place to buy a good quality, reasonably priced dining table and chairs?

I'm looking for a new dining set and wonder where the best place to buy this kind of furniture would be.
I don't have a preference when it comes to style; I'm just looking for a shop which isn't run by cowboys.
I saw a few nice tables in Harveys but having read hundreds of complaints about them, I'd rather avoid them.
So, anyone know of a reliable place to buy good quality furniture?
Thanks :A

If it has to be brand new, then I'm stuck.
If you are wiling to consider previously owned furniture, there are often lovely pieces, with excellent wood & workmanship, at the auction houses.
Not the place to shop driving a mini & in your best clothes but if you look past the environment (& take a tape measure!) & test sit on every ingle chair, you can get some glorious furniture.
All the best with your hunt!0 -
I'm not sure about the place because I have never shopped there......yet but I am considering a visit so I would be interested in people's views on the place. Have you tried Cousins? They always have "sales" on and the stores/warehouses are fairly large. I frequently hear their ads and sales on the radio. Anyone have any good or bad experiences of Cousins?0

i'm another vote to keep an eye out for a used one. keep an eye out on gumtree, charity shops, or an someone else suggested, auction houses.
you can usually pick up immaculate sets for a fraction of the original cost.0 -
We are also looking for furniture, UK made and solid oak. We hate the sheds, but use them for research.
British Furniture Manufacturers website is also a good starting point.
Find your brand, then find a local supplier.0
