Hi all, will keep this brief. just went to pay cheque in at lloyds and cos we in debt (about 30,000) and they can see we are struggling to meet direct debits etc, i was invited into the dreaded "review". asked who we had our mortgage with i said BOS. told them we owed 32,000 and house is worth about 120,000. she asked about how we would feel bout re-mortgaging but i said hubby was self-employed and only for 5 months at that so i knew it would be a problem, but she said she could pass it to their underwriters??? and they might be able to help, i dont understand what she meant because im quite thick at mortgages etc. i thought you could not re-mortgage whilst self-employed unless you had a years books to show? and if that the case wouldnt our lenders be able to look at our history(EVERY payment met) and offer us a solution, seeing as we have always met our repayments although we have struggled with other bills.
could somebody give me a bit of advice please

It looks like the will pass your details to a person who will decide if they would be willing to allow you to remortgage with them.

HUBBY BEEN WORKING FIVE DAYS A WEEK TO SAME FIRM SINCE HE BEGAN AND THEY BEEN DEDUCTING TAX AT 20% AND GIVING HIM CHEQUES EACH WEEK PLUS VOUCHERS. HE PAYS HIS OWN NI MONTHLY. WE HAVE HAD MORTGAGE TEN YEARS WITH BANK OF SCOTLAND, WOULDNT THEY BE BETTER TO APPROACH? THANKSDFW NERD....560

It looks like they are getting nervous about something.
Is your £30,000 debt with them?
Looking in from the outside, it looks to me like you need to get your finances in check and a way of doing this could be to remortgage and pay your debts back at a constant and affordable monthly figure.
I would have thought that whoever can offer you the best deal would be the ideal choice.
Please don't leave it too long!!

Hi, 30,000 Not All With Them I Have Loan With Them For 8000. Havent Missed Payment. Hubby Has Cc With Them For 9000. Up To Date With Payments Albeit Min Payments. Got Van On Hp And Car On Hp. Plus Cc With Sainsburys (having Just Bt From Hsbc....another Story That Is.) Yes We Do Need To Sort Out Finances, Were Going To Re-mortgage Last Year Until Bombshell At Christmas With Hubbies Job. Like I Said He Is Self Employed, We Are Trying To Sort Things Out, But It Will Be Slow And Steady, And We Have Nothing Secured On Home So We Are Quite Lucky Compared To Most. Think We Will Approach Our Own Mortgage Provider Soon, As I Dont Like Lloyds, Throw It At You From All Ways Then Pretend To Be Responsible Lenders The Next. Thanks AgainDFW NERD....560

If you do not have any luck with RBS then consult a whole of market mortgage broker, as they should be able to assist.
