I wondered as I give them "Brains faggotts" at least once a week served with mashed potatoes and broccoli.
I find it a quick easy meal and I don't really see it as a ready meal although I suppose it is really.

I've always thought of them being high in fat as they are a bit like sausages but made from offal.
This is the nutritional content for them that I found on the web;
Calories: 242 kcals
Carbohydrates: 22.5g (so not really a plus point for those on the Atkins diet)
Fat; 12.5g (of which saturates 5.9g)
Fibre: 1.1g
Salt: 0.9g
make of it what you will!!A penny saved is a penny earned

Once a week with mash and brocolli - no problem, they are not bad for you but a delish meal. Enjoy :j0

Brains faggots are my only ready meal too
. Don't have them often and then it's only for me and OH as kids don't like them. I think they're a pretty good option if you're having a night off cooking. There's plenty of iron in them
You need extra gravy though don't you -there's never quite enough.0 -
sounds yummy to me but the name oh dear....................I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

We love faggots! Has anyone else noticed thats its more cost effective to buy the 4 for 99p than the 6 for £1.69?

xxTo repeat what others have said, requires education, to challenge it,requires brains!FEB GC/DIESEL £200/4 WEEKS0 -
I've never had faggots..I think they were on their way out before I was born!
Mind you, with that name and made by 'Mr Brains' I'm not suprised!0 -
"Mr. Brains" are not faggots: they are liver, onion and additive meatballs!
Real, properly made faggots are one of the finest foods in the world.
My local butcher makes their own at just 50p each and the size of a cricket ball, not a golf ball. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
As to the title of this thread, I don't really think that there are many foods that are unhealthy. We need to remember to eat everything in moderation. A *high fat* meal once a week isn't a problem, if it's part of a balance diet, accompanied by plenty of fruit and veg.

Jasper Carrott makes the joke about Durex being a brand of sticky-tape in Australia - when my mother last visited from there, imagine my experience trying to explain why Tescos was selling "faggots".
:rotfl:If you think reality makes sense, you're just not paying attention!0
