Because it's been abused by "Crafters" who want something for nothing rather than genuine interested potential customers. Just like the samples of wood flooring the other poor company were offering - "Crafters" were encouraged to get their free samples of wood....

I applied for them as a potential customer.
A lot of the freebies on here are for potential customers like the Dulux paint posts that has been posted a few times and samples of most products are intended as advertising for potential customers but I am sure that a lot of people that ordered samples are not always potential customers but thats just the way it is when companies offer samples and they are posted across freebie sites.
Personally I like the freebies that are aimed at businesses and ask for your business name and address but not a lot seem to do that so some offers will end up getting abused.
