Just so you know, I've been told by my mum's next door neighbour, who owns a dry cleaning firm, and recently cleaned my 2nd-hand Maggie Soterro dress, that all they do is put them in an industrial-sized washing machine on a low temperature. The only possible problems they encounter is that sometimes the beads come loose. They cannot guarantee that the beads wouldn't rot if they used dry cleaning fluid, which is why they stick to gentle detergent and water, then steam pressing the dress afterwards.

The big no-no is tumble drying. This is when the dresses are prone to shrinking.

He also told me that he cleans dresses for the local wedding dress hire shops, and that until recently, the small local independent cleaners used to sub-contract to his business, until they realised that they just put them in a washing machine, when they began to do this themselves.

Again, this is second-hand information, so I take no responsibility for anyone using it and having a disaster.

A lot of the girls on confetti have just put theirs into a duvet cover and washed it on a delicates wash. This is all bridal shops do.
