Havn't got a clue ?

Options
My stepdaughter is constantly ''borrowing'' money for essentials (her words). She asked today and as she is paid weekly its 2 days after payday. OH always hands some over because of the worry and I say nothing unless asked.
She has a daughter (14) who has hardly ever lived with her since birth (sad but no bond and doesn't care) Her daughter has lived with other paternal grandmother for 12 of those years and 2 with us as a baby.
Childs father lives in the same household as the 14 year old.
Stepdaughter claims she has 30% deducted at source for CSA which, if father lives with the child, seems a bit high.
Any answers would be handy thanks

  • How long has she been involved with the CSA? If since before 2003, than it is possible for her to be paying up to 30% of her income for regular maintenance. If the case started after 2003, regular payment for 1 child is 15%, so if she is paying 30% it would be because she owes arrears.

  • Thanks
Fairly certain its after 2003. I think she ''allocated'' her CB some years back to the grandmother and that was it. It wouldn't surprise me if the whole 30% thing is made up.
P'raps its time to ask to see a wage slip.

She certainly enjoys her nights out and employs a cleaner once a week for her 1 bed flat.
  • Perhaps she may benefit from the budgeting and cost cutting tips found on some of the other boards?
