How Legal Aid Works? Please help

Hi, I am having a property dispute with a member of my family and she is using Legal aid. I have very little knowledge about Legal Aid. Can anyone please explain to me the procedures like how a claim is made, awarded and does it have an expiry date to which the claim will close if it is unused, and so on?

Does legal aid cover property disputes?

I thought that they had tightened up the categories of dispute that LA can be used for.

Thanks Dazedandconfused for the link but it doesn't explain in details.If anyone used before or know more details about how legal aid is claimed, etc, please help.

My dispute started just before they made the changes, unlucky me.
