I keep getting emails telling me that someone has mentioned me on twitter, then of course I get excited thinking it's in regards to a comp.
But it keeps turning out to be complete strangers saying check out her twitter or just promoting my account or a twitter user of the day from some random person I don't even know and when I send them a pm asking why I get no reply.
I retweet a lot of comps but rarely tweet and if I do it's something inane or a msg to my friend in London.
But I was just wondering if anyone else gets this and if they know why these users do it? I can't work out how - if at all that is, that it benefits them. Any ideas?
Starting afresh - comping as much as poss!

Hoping for: some beauty goods, clothes, amazon vouchers, anime, manga, wardrobe, fridge freezer, laptop, an ipad, vouchers for next, exercise goods, a uk break and a wee hol somewhere nice!
Wishing all a little luck:beer:

I am always wary of clicking links in tweets. Sometimes I get random things saying something like "have you seen this picture of you?" I always just delete them, in case I end up with a virus.

Best to just click the 'report for spam' link in the email notification.
  • It's spam, just like those spam "Enlarge your p@*^s" emails we all get as a result of being a comper. Best to just ignore and block/report, they will not answer DM's as they are more than likely automated spambots. HTH.

I used to get the enlargement emails at work and never entered comps there, so they're not just a comping side effect. Heaven knows where they get your address from.

  • It's weird as when I go on my twitter they have tweeted promoting my twitter, I just don't see why they would bother. But I think you're right reeks of a scam. thanks

  • Just by 1 click, then the number of your twitter followers will increase by 15-20 followers every 10 minutes. And one more thing you should know, that the twitter followers who follow your twitter account is 100% real human and not a bot.
