applying makeup when wearing glasses

I don't wear eye make up, the reason for this is I can't actually see to apply it
I wear glasses (quite a strong prescription) and once I take them off I am unable to see into the mirror to apply it properly. Its worse when I close one eye than the other.
I have tried those make up glasses which you can flip down but unfortunately they don't have any effect for me as they are not strong enough.
I can't be the only person in this situation, I just wondered if anyone had any tips for me of what I can try.
Thanks

I use a magnifying mirror next to a very bright light!0

I am blind in one eye and am short sighted in the other and cannot see without my glasses. I use a very strong magnifying shaving mirror - 10x magnification (I got it from Home Sense/TKMaxx).
I guess I am lucky because I had a make up lesson with the American Artistic Director of Bobbi Brown and now use professional brushes to apply my makeup. I tend to use a nude cream shadow on the eye lid and apply a powder shadow over it using brushes. I use a bit of mascara and manage to apply it without poking myself in the eye with the wand (although I have done that in the past or if I am in a hurry).
I have a handbag mirror also with a large magnification that I bought from the RNIB.

I have to get right up close to the mirror to be able to focus with my glasses off. Two inches away does it.

I have a bright light nearby and peer at the mirror but it seems to work and nobody has said anything bad about my makeup so I am guessing that I must be doing something right. (BTW despite my username here I am actually female)0

Thanks everyone I have ordered a x5 one side and x10 the other magnification mirror. Hopefully that will help, I do have a magnification mirror but its not that strong. I must remember never to look into it wearing my glasses, think I would get quite a fright at the state of my skin :eek:0

After several very painful experiences applying mascara (!) I now treat myself to eyelash tints which work pretty well and I can now go out with out bloodshot eyes! The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.0

10x magnifying mirror is your friend but be prepared to be scared. Very scared!
I moved onto contact lenses because I couldn't see to do my make up properly. Plus being unable to read while getting a cut and colour at the hairdresser!0 -

I wore contact lenses when I was young and did look at this option again but unfortunately due to my age my eyes are no longer suitable for them
I know the feeling, I hate the hairdressers as I can't see what they are doing to my hair! they could cutting it all off for all I know lol 0 -
I have the same problem too, I just peer right up close to the bathroom mirror, luckily I don't tend to wear a lot of eye make up only on special occasions, so can manage for foundation and lipstick.
I agree with the problem with hairdressers, can't see to read a mag nor what they are cutting off at the back.

I can manage eye make-up/mascara, but I really struggle to pluck my eyebrows. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0
