repair credit for IVA

Next month my best pal will complete and finish his 5 year IVA.
In order to return to being able to make applications for financial products / bank accounts / credit cards he would like to take any actions that might help him repair his credit standing.
I understand it credit scoring is a points based system, and if there is any way to add points either now pre the finish IVA or after the IVA has been completed, your suggestions welcome.
