I was all set to go bankrupt Monday...

But in the end I decided I could not face the weekend worrying about it, so I went this morning instead. All in all, it has been a bit of an anticlimax
10am arrived at the court, very nervous, was 3rd in the queue. First guy goes to counter, needs to file for bankruptcy, then the woman in front of me, needs to file for bankruptcy, then I go up, need to file for bankruptcy. At that point the 2 in front, myself, and the woman all burst out laughing and say it must be the in thing for fridays. The ice is broken and the 3 of us actually talk about it quite casually.
10:30ish taken into a little office and my paperwork is gone through, payment taken, and I am sent into the waiting room.
11:15 I am taken into court to see the judge. He was really lovely, asked about my IVA, I said it had been a mistake and I should have gone bk instead, he said some of the companies are virtually criminal and I'm certainly not the only one he has heard in my situation.
11:22 I am declared bankrupt.
12:00 I go into the OR office. This was in some ways the worst bit, but only really because the guy who did my interview irritated me! He was very, very young and I just felt that he couldn't possibly understand, he probably still lives with his mum etc (is this a sign I am getting old????) That said, he was fine with me. My SOA wasn't gone through in too much detail as I am not yet earning, so once I have work I need to get back in touch.
12:55 I was on my way for a beer!!
I am so glad it was all done so quickly and easily, no one was judgemental, and the clerk at the court was actually very sympathetic on the job front - I had expected a lecture about making myself unemployed.
I now look forward to the rest of my life.

Thank you Rufus, posts like these really really help imho when you are preparing to go to court - at this stage you know you are going BR, but the worry about how bad it can be to physically do it can make you ill so all the accounts of how it isn't actually someone in a wig pointing and shouting at you, threatening to 'send you dooowwwn' really helps.
Thank you again and good luck with the rest if you get a job and have to redo the I&E.Do not feed the trolls please.0
