free firewood

Just a note to remind any coastal dwellers that there's loads of driftwood on the beaches after the recent storms.
We went and got a good load this morning - it will be dry in time for next winter's fires. I love a free fire.

    Us too. We pile it up and leave in the garden to wash the salts out over about six months before we use it. Still burning the neighbour's old fence at the moment :D

    We have the dreg ends of a friends shed, we are using it for kindling...

    Lol! Everyone was happy as they didn't have to pay for a skip and we got free wood. Tend to scavenge on the country estate next to us for dead-fall too (we have permission from the landowner's agent) and I always carry a large canvas bag with me to gather any bits I see in the road etc
