Grrrrrrr!

So tired of competitions for 'family breaks' that can be taken any time .....EXCEPT.......... Whenever there is a school holiday!!!!!!!!! So tell me how, without incurring a massive fine for taking your children out of school, a FAMILY is supposed to take this prize!!!!!!!!!!!

Used to be really annoying for me too although I did work out sometimes the Scottish School holidays could be used on English breaks. Not any good for families in England though. I never won one anyway and now our kids don't want to come with us.

Really young children is about the only way, well inside the under 12 age limit for the children some family breaks are limited to.

according to the ASA they're not allowed to call them family holidays if they can't be taken during school holidays - report them if you find it annoying

    Take the prize.
I would take mine out during school time if required. The minimal 'fine' is mor than compensated by the savings you can make and in honesty missing a week or 2 of school is not going to set them behind judging by todays standards.
  • I wouldn't worry about it too much, its for the prize provider to decide what the exemptions are for a prize. Remember, its there to increase their publicity - so they'll put it out of season to minimise the cost.

THOUGH - they shouldn't be describing it as family holidays, so report any that you see that break the rules.

I email / message them if they describe it as a "Family" holiday, then exclude the majority of "Families!"
I add that I have absolutely no issue with the exclusions as we all know peak periods are horrendously expensive, but the issue is them mis-describing.
