Please recommend me a pillow!

I've spent a fortune over the last year trying to find a pillow I like.
Can anyone recommend one?
I don't want feather as I have to keep plumping them all through the night, and I don't like memory foam as they are too hard.

  • I agree about the memory foam, they are like sleeping on the floor, an awful idea designed to snare the unsuspecting shopper.

Have you tried making a cross? Some old style, old style, has never been beaten IMO, foam tore into pieces and feathers and stitch them inside an opened pillow. The foam will move about but provide some firmness and the feathers will provide some softness. You could experiment using safety pins until you get the mix the way you want it.

You might have some foam or get a piece from ebay.

Best pillow I ever had was from Ideal world it was called a Dream Wizard ! had a blow up inflatable bit which slid inside the main pillow which was Polyester I think ! it was great in fact I bought three in total and sadly the last one has only just "bit the dust" the inflatable bit has burst and to replace they cost about £10 or more ! if you can find them !, best part was you could just inflate them more if needed ! good luck with your search !
  • Oh, been there & done that! :D
Changed from v/expensive Hungarian goose down to these.
Try Spundown; they are GREAT & come in medium or firm support.

Ours are almost 2 years old now & still like new - they wash up great! ;)
So good, I got some for all our beds.
    Duvets too. :o

    The tempur traditional.
It's amazing, it's not hard, it's beautiful & I hate sleeping away from home.
    It's worth the money.
I've prob had it 4/5 years, so £20 a year so far :-) well worth it :-)

I searched for ages for a good pillow and finally paid, in my opinion, a fortune for this one,

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dunlopillo-Serenity-Deluxe-Classic-Pillow/dp/B0050JLLWC

    It is very comfortable though.

If you go into a place that sells beds...think it was bensons I went into, you should be able to try one out whilst looking like you're actually testing the bed :)
I was put on this earth to accomplish a certain amount of things, at this rate I may never die!
  • My OH is a"hot" sleeper and we tried some (quite expensive) latex pillows; admittedly not the particular ones posted above.
He hated them; said they made him sweat like .... er, a really sweaty thing! :o
    Horses for courses though.

so was that pillow £100ish ?:)

I bought a memory one a few months ago and its @crap@ its gone all shapes and has altzimers I think. I used to get 2 foam ones in one case that was ok but they don't last long. I was thinking of another feather one as I don't mind the plumping and there more plyable. I don't think I could afford one of them tempur ones.

I bought a few cheaper memory foam, but they didn't hit the spot.
It was about £85 or £90, but its as good as the day I bought it.
Its a beautiful soft but supportive memory foam, its worth the money.
Im sure I will get another 5 years from it.
  • Soft foam can be purchased on eBay for around £5. Get a thin sheet 1" and rip/cut it up and put inside the pillow. Add some feathers and bingo, bobs your uncle sidney, you have a pillow. Adjust to your requirements and comfort. ;)

I will give this a try when I have less pressing matters to attend to and more time available.

You can buy the thicker 5/6 inch soft foam but it gets quite expensive at around £30/£40.
