tesco loan advice
hi everyone
need some advice i took a loan out with tesco and had to default due to hours being cut at work etc i have been paying £100 per month for about 2 years my original amount was £205 i requested copys of statements and total owing is about £4500 but tesco are saying i owe £7800 and they cannot tell why there is a difference in amounts
any ideas what to do ??????

Write to them and say you think there has been an error and ask them to supply details of the amount borrowed and all the payments that you have made.0

thanks for the reply already done that been waiting over 3 weeks
i am trying to make a short settlement on the debt but cannot do this until i get a correct total .
any more ideas would help0 -
Can you be sure they got the letter?
Write them another letter and head it complaint. Send it recorded this time and wait for them to respond. If they don't respond in 8 weeks refer them to the FOS.0 -
How much did you borrow initially?
Over how long?
At what rate?
What date did you reduce your payments?0 -
If you know your loan account and sort code (you can get this off them on the phone) you can register for online account management and get a pretty comprehensive breakdown of your payments etc online.

I think OP thinks that because he paid a smaller monthly payment the interest on loan has mysteriously stopped - it hasn't - with each payment his debt has grown - add to this any underpayment fees etc then Tesco's figures might be right.
OP to check the figures you have to give us something to work on.0 -
