Frozen Cookie Dough

I was wondering if its possible to eat frozen cookie dough raw ?

the reason i ask is that i am partial to cookie dough ice cream and usually buy ben & jerrys when on offer as i guess a lot of people do

i have noticed sainsburys sell a block of cookie dough which is chilled and was wondering if i could freeze it then cut off chunks and add to plain vanilla ice cream

will i get ill as it contains raw egg

It's probably not a good idea even though I really like raw cake and cookie dough.

If your really worried you can just make cookie dough without the egg and use a bit of milk instead.

There is something about undefrosted frozen desserts that is strangely tasty ;) . I had frozen a lemon cheesecake in slices, and ate it piece by piece just out of the freezer. Not my proudest moments but it was delish.

So whilst I'm not recommending it from a health perspective, I thoroughly enjoyed it (am not a big fan of food in general).

See if Lidl have any of the American ones left, they tend to come and go in stock. Their cookie dough at £1.99 a tub knock Haagen Das or Ben & Jerrys out the window as its nicer than either and cheaper. Really strong vanilla icecream and loads of big cookie dough chunks.

The Strawberry cheescake is a real killer too.

Raw egg is not recommended for the very young, very old or pregnant, if you're fit and well you should be fine with it, unless it contains salmonella in which case it shouldn't have entered the food chain in the first place. Only the top-end biscuits actually contain egg, mind.

Come to think of it, I have eaten leftover supermarket bakery biscuits that I have stuck in the freezer (labelled not suitable for freezing, as I think they are part-frozen before baking) and they tasted really good too.

DS2 sometimes buys this one from Sainsbury's http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/groceries/index.jsp?bmUID=1392505570620 and we've not been ill so far :)
It's a bit rich for my taste though and usually a couple of marshmallow-sized wodges of it are enough for me. We've also had the boxes of Otis Spunkmeyer unbaked cookies from Costco which are nice but not especially cheap.

I'd rather have Hagen Hazs ice cream though, and that's down to £2 at Morrisons this week.
