parking eye court papers

Hi I have received court papers with regards to a parking charge I received in sept from parking eye. I did (rather stupidly now) ignore the first 3 letter hoping they would go away but just my luck they didn't.
The basic case is I over stayed in a car park they manage (says this on the particulars of the case) for 30 mins. its is a free to park car park and I was using the shops and just lost track of time (easily done with 2 kids in tow and shoe shopping before the start of school term) I can prove that I was in one of the shop however the rest was browsing and a small purchase that I must have paid cash for.
I would really appreciate some help writing my defence I have the basic outline but would just like to jazz it up for want of a better phrase.
