Anyone used modern.co.uk for furniture?

Modern.co.uk seem to have decently priced sofas in the style we're looking for (compared with John Lewis etc) - BUT they don't have a showroom (so no testing for comfort which is quite important!)
Anyone used them? They have a 7-day return policy but obviously I am quite dubious as I haven't heard of them before.
With a name like 'Modern' they are hard to search for reviews... Any experience with them?

I ordered a sofa from them. Actual product is well built by service is a disaster.
Delivered the wrong item first time. Delivery company is a joke (4 hours late first time, still waiting on the second).
For the return item, they can't pick up the return at the same time as deliver the new, so with 2 items and 1 return, I've needed to take 3 days off work to wait for delivery (they can only tell you the day. The times they give are 'estimations' and the delivery company does not stick to them).
I'd give a very wide birth.0 -
Probably one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with...
1- I called them to get a confirmation on my delivery and I was told it should arrive next day!
2- next morning I didn't get any calls or emails so I called the customer services (after waiting 20 mins), I get told that there has been an error and now my item will be delivered the next day.
3- Since i had wasted so much time, I decided to go back to work... however during my travel , I get a text message confirming that my item will now be delivered TODAY between 3-6pm... so I had to make the whole journey again.
After making a complaint , they decided to offer me £20 compensation so I canceled my whole order, worth nearly £1k.
They should not be doing business, they are simply shocking!!!0 -
We ordered 2 sofas just after Christmas as their website stated they were both in stock and we were able to select a delivery date before returning to work, so waiting in between 8am and 6pm wouldn't be a problem.
We organised for our old sofas to be taken away in preparation for the new arrivals.
On our selected delivery date we called to make sure they were coming only to be told that they would't be coming that day and that actually they only have one in stock and the other would be several weeks wait! We now have the massive inconvenience of having to have them delivered when we are at work and to avoid having no where to sit for weeks we are having to have them delivered seperately so we have to be home twice!!
The website lied about their stock but they took our money and didn't think that it would be appropriate to let us know.
Terrible company that we definitely would recommend be avoided!!!
The sofas aren't here so no doubt we'll have many more problems with this company yet!!!0 -
FANTASTIC SOFA at a GREAT PRICE, I would highly recommend Modern based on my experience.
After reading the above I had my concerns, however decided to risk it as I really liked the Martha sofa. It arrived on the day I selected and the drivers even called me an hour before to check it was a convenient time.
I bought a Martha from Modern because it looked very similar to a Sofasandstuff model that I wanted but I couldn’t justify spending £1400+ on. After unwrapping my sofa from Modern I was genuinely amazed at the quality, especially for the price I paid. I saw the sofasandstuff model in their showroom can confidently say that the Modern sofa is as good quality and am really glad I didn’t waste my money on the more expensive option.
I have already recommended Modern to a friend and their experience was in line with mine (they bought a Madeline sofa). I am really surprised that Modern is not more popular with these prices0 -
We bought a corner sofa from them.
Leg colour was supposed to be steel- arrived as painted grey
Fabric was not the same as Web site
Legs didn't even fit as wrong drill holes
We forgave the above then within 4 months the chaise side springs collapsed.
They offered to give us a exchange or upgrade of £90 if we paid £90 also!
We did exchange for a new sofa and although it's same colour etc the coverings are cheap as they are bobbling.
Avoid them like the plague!0 -
Ordered 2 new couches.
One was scheduled to be delivered last Saturday between 7am and 8pm. They never showed, never called or texted to say they weren't coming. Called Monday and they rescheduled for Wednesday delivery. On Tuesday they cancelled that. They've promised phone calls on three separate occasions (so far), and never followed through.
This is a horrific mistake on my part.
At this point I am just straight up suspecting fraud.0
